The Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC) plays a huge role in the COVID-19 pandemic by giving out precautionary measures as well as updates about the number of cases in each Nigerian states.
Nigerian states such as Lagos, FCT, Kano, and so on always have the number of cases confirmed, discharged and recorded deaths given out by NCDC. Nigerians follow the updates just as football fans follow live scores.
States with the highest number of cases were put on lockdown before the Federal Government eventually put the whole country on lockdown then.
Although COVID-19 precautionary measures such as the use of nose mask, maintaining social distance, washing of hands, etc. are still in lace, Nigerians seems to have stopped following the COVID-19 data provided by NCDC as they did during the lockdown.
According to the data provided for the number of COVID-19 cases in Nigeria today, there are 154 cases nationwide.
Lagos (119), Akwa Ibom (11), Rivers (6), Oyo (5), Ekiti (4), Ogun (4), FCT (2), Gombe (2), and Kwara (1).
Number of confirmed cases were reported as 168,867; 164,623 were discharged while 2,125 deaths were recorded. 5 States were reported with zero cases which are Imo, Oyo, Kano, Plateau, and Sokoto.
Although we are back to our normal life rather than the fear and dread associated with the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020. My question now is, ‘Do we still have people who follow the COVID-19 data update today?’
