7 Popular Nigerian Entertainers That Are Lawyers

It is not surprising that the Nigerian entertainment industry has witnessed people who studied or practiced law, known as lawyers, making names for themselves via their talents.

It is however a surprise to many who doesn’t know that some of Nigeria’s famous entertainers (actors, music artistes, comedians, etc) were trained as a lawyer before or after making names for themselves in the entertainment scene rather being on the bench.

Here are 7 Popular Nigerian Entertainers That Are Trained as Lawyers;

  1. Richard Mofe Damijo: Nollywood veteran actor, popularly known as RMD studied law at the University of Lagos (1997-2004). This was after he had bagged a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Benin. RMD (60) has had his illustrous career as an actor. He is also a former commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Delta State where he hails from.

  2. Ebuka Obi-Uchendu: Popular TV and show host, Chukwuebuka Obi-Uchendu is also a trained lawyer. The Big Brother Naija host studied law at the University of Abuja. He attended the Nigerian law school in 2005. Ebuka (39) then returned to school after five years working gap to bag a Master of Laws degree from the Washington College of Law of the American University, Washington DC.

  3. Folarin Falana: Nigerian rapper, songwriter, actor and activist, Folarin Falana, better known as Falz is a trained lawyer. The son of Nigeria’s renowned lawyer, Femi Falana, made his name in the entertainment industry. Falz (30) is an alumnus of the University of Reading, UK, having graduated with an LLB honors degree in Law.

  4. Anayo Modestus Onyekwere: Nollywood veteran actor, popularly known as Kanayo O. Kanayo, is another entertainer who has been trained as a lawyer. The Mbaise-born screen star studied law and graduated from the University of Abuja in the year 2018. He also finished his Law School from the Abuja Law School located at Bwari, Abuja in the year 2020.

  5. Cynthia Nwadiora: Nigerian reality star, actress, and model, Cynthia Nwadiora, better known as Cee-C is also a trained lawyer. The former BBNaija housemate attended Madonna University in Okija, Anambra state where she graduated with a bachelor of Law degree in 2013. She attended the Nigerian Law school in Lagos and graduated in 2014 as a certified and professional lawyer.

  6. Femi Adebayo: Popular Nollywood actor, Femi Adebayo is another trained lawyer turned screen star. He bagged a bachelor of Law degree at the University of Ilorin. He later earned a Masters of Law degree in Law from the University of Ibadan.

  7. Michael Sani Amanesi: Popularly known by his stage name, MC Lively, the comedian and actor from Edo State is also a trained lawyer. MC Lovely studied law at the Obafemi Awolowo University and was called to the Nigerian bar in 2016. He has, however, made name for himself as a sensational skit maker with the name ‘Barrister Mike’.
